Particulate-laden gas enters the lower body of the scrubber through the tangential inlet into the pre-humidification section (for temperatures above 500°F, additional spray is added). As the gases become saturated in this stage, the coarse dust load is removed, while the gas containing the residual, finer particles transcends through the scrubbing vane and into the interconnecting "J" duct.

The re-circulated scrubbing liquid is introduced at the fan inlet. The completely flushed integral wet fan serves the dual purpose of collecting finer particulate and providing the static pressure for movement of gases through the system. The captured solids are separated centrifugally from the gas stream in the cyclonic separator vessel and flow down the inner cone through the vane section, where liquid is drained off at the slurry discharge while the clean air escapes by way of the top gas outlet.
