In order to
accommodate non-symmetric and/or non-uniform loadings, Emtrol also offers 3D
modeling and analysis that is conducted in-house to ensure timely response to
design changes. 3D modeling permits detailed design for unique loading
conditions and depicts the effect of the non-symmetric loading. Although
primarily used for analysis of the primary membrane and bending stresses due to
cyclone loadings and pressure, 3D FEA models can also incorporate the secondary
thermal stresses produced by the thermal gradient in the plenum skirt. 3D
modeling can be ideally applied to our unique support design, the Emtrol
Patented Beam Hanger Support System, when future expansion must be
considered. Our beam system is typically used in FCC
regenerators and its unparalleled design accommodates incorporating
"future" cyclone sets. These sets can be installed in the vessel
to increase throughput without any modification to the vessel itself. The
beam system is used to support the new cyclone loads and the only modification
required to the system is at the connection of the last stage cyclone outlet
tube to the plenum skirt. Emtrol has used 3-D modeling to confirm that the
plenum design can handle both the non-symmetric loading ("future"
cyclones not installed) and the "future" symmetric loadings, thereby
designing a support system with future throughput capacity.
