Post Point Waste Water Treatment Plant

Cleaning Incinerator Off-gas

SITE

PROBLEM

Post Point WWTP needed to dispose of sewage sludge in a cost effective and environmentally sound manner.  With the installation of two (2) fluid bed incinerators, the plant required air pollution control equipment to clean the incinerator off-gases.

solution

Emtrol engineered and supplied two (2) Venturi/Impingement Tray Scrubbers to remove particulate from the incinerator off-gases.  The system included a specially designed quench to saturate 1400°F. inlet gases, a double blade ceramic tile lined variable throat venturi scrubber for precise control and operation at 25" w.c. pressure drop, and an impingement tray tower to efficiently cool exit gases to reduce steam plume.  Each Emtrol scrubber was followed by a modern Wet Electrostatic Precipitator.

result

The Post Point WWTP had a trouble free start-up of the scrubber system.  The air pollution control system surpassed emissions requirements by achieving 0.005 grains/SCFD.  Each Emtrol scrubber has been operating since 1992 providing the owner with efficient and reliable service.
