The World Leader in Cyclone Design     Specialists in Fluid Bed Applications

The items listed herein are necessary to make an effective recommendation for cyclones that shall be used in FCC Service.

Vessel Information Required

For internal cyclones provide vessel shell thickness(es), ID of vessel, vessel lining thickness, vessel head and vessel gas outlet details, TL to TL distance, grid or air distribution location and shape, vessel manhole size for passage of new equipment into vessel (if applicable), vessel internals (if any, such as risers, catalyst overflow well, spent catalyst returns, etc.) and any other pertinent details which will affect the cyclone installation.  A drawing of the vessel, if available, would provide most of this information.

Process Information Required

Gas rate to cyclones

Gas temperature

Gas pressure

Gas viscosity

Gas molecular weight

Estimated catalyst entrainment (Emtrol will estimate the entrainment)

Catalyst circulation rate

Catalyst type

Catalyst particle density

Bed level, measured from vessel reference

Bed density if known (Emtrol can estimate)

Dipleg termination level, if specified (Emtrol can recommend)

Dipleg density -- for each stage of cyclones (Emtrol can estimate)

If there are to be operations at more than one condition, provide above information for each case.

Mechanical Design Information Required

Cyclone system continuous design temperature

Cyclone system emergency design temperature

Vessel shell design temperature

Cyclone design pressure

Corrosion allowance

Cyclone System Construction & Other Details

Emtrol can recommend the following if not specified:

Plate metallurgy

Minimum thickness of cyclones

Internal hexmesh lining metallurgy

Refractory specifications

Thickness of hexmesh and refractory

Weld pattern and weld size for hexmesh to cyclone shell

Dipleg and valve minimum thickness

Bracing size

Bracing attachment to cyclones or diplegs

Dipleg valves

Dipleg valve type
